Welcome to the lab page of Christopher R. Butson, PhD. Dr. Butson is a faculty member in the Biotechnology & Bioengineering Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He holds appointments as an Associate Professor in the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry & Behavioral Medicine at MCW, and as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University.
Dr. Butson is also the founder and CEO of Neuropotential LLC, a medical device consulting company.
The research focus of his lab is neuromodulation therapy. Major research areas include:
-Deep brain stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders
-Neurophysiology of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
-Neuromodulation therapy for depression including cortical stimulation, repetitive TMS (rTMS) and DBS
Each of these projects are conducted using a combination of computational modeling and human experiments.
